The McDonald’s restaurants located at 1024 Elmwood Avenue and 4801 Garners Ferry Road officially reopened their doors Tuesday.

According to a news release, both restaurants have undergone several contemporary changes designed to enhance the customer experience, and will celebrate with free grand opening events.

Highlights of the redesigned restaurants include: new extended hours along with updated decor.  Inside, customers can now enjoy free Wi-Fi, along with new flat screen TV’s, comfortable lighting, new furniture with natural finishes, and contemporary color schemes all reflecting the personality of the brand.   Outside, customers will notice a new exterior with landscaping that compliments the community, and double-lane drive-thru.

The Garners Ferry McDonald’s, owned and operated by local business owner Brad Valdes, will host a family friendly grand re-opening celebration Saturday, Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Special activities will include: face painting, giveaways, fire truck tours by the Columbia-Richland Fire Department, prizes by Dr Pepper®, The Coca-Cola Company®, live music from 104.7 WNOK, and a special appearance by Ronald McDonald®.

“The Garners Ferry area is changing and McDonald's is changing with the times togive our customers an experience that is more enjoyable and comfortable.  We are excited to contribute to the area's growth and provide improved convenience to the nearby military community with our 24-hour double lane drive-thru," said Garners Ferry owner, Brad Valdes.

Willis and Clara Langley, owners of the Elmwood Ave. McDonald’s, will host their grand re-opening event in the New Year on Saturday January 12, 2013.  "We have been a staple in the community since 1986 and could not be more excited to re-open our doors and continue to serve our customers in the community 24 hours a day,” said Clara Langley.  “We believe our customers deserve freshly prepared, quality food served inside an environment that is more modern and inviting.”

These are just two of the several McDonald’s in the Greater Columbia area that have been built or redesigned with the new McDonald’s look.

In 2011, McDonald’s USA announced a $1 billion investment to redesign the majority of its 14,000 U.S. restaurants by 2015. Last year, McDonald’s and its franchisees remodeled 600 restaurants and rebuilt 200 nationwide. In 2012, McDonald’s plans to improve on that total, targeting 800 new remodels, 225 rebuilds and 175 new store openings – a 24 percent total increase in renovations over the previous year.
