Photo Gallery | YMCA needs crane for new equipment delivery
If you find yourself in downtown Columbia today, you may see something out of the ordinary. The Downtown YMCA has purchased some new exercise equipment, but getting it in and the old stuff out has proven to be a bit of a challenge.
That's why you'll see a huge crane in front of the 100 year old building on Sumter Street hoisting 50 new pieces of equipment up and down and in and out of a 5th floor window.
A spokesperson for the YMCA said they had to remove one of the windows on that floor in order to get the old PRECOR equipment out of the building and the new elliptical trainers, treadmills, upright bikes and adaptive motion trainers to their new home.
The big move started around 5 a.m. and is expected to last until Thursday evening.
