Three Richland One students are among the 2,500 high school seniors across the nation to win National Merit Scholarships, a highly prestigious honor for academic excellence.

Dreher High School seniors Christian Kloot, Jad Sheehi and Samuel Trump will be awarded $2,500 scholarships by National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

To date, four district students have won National Merit scholarships. A.C. Flora High School senior Charles H. Cate was notified of his selection in April. The names of winning students are announced at various times during the spring. Winners were selected based on academic record, grades earned, scores from two standardized tests, contributions, school leadership, community activities, an essay and school official recommendation.
