Photo Gallery | Recyclable Fashion Lights Up Runway Saturday Night
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- Hundreds of supporters gathered inside the Township Auditorium for the 2013 Runaway Runway, a Recycled Fashion Show Saturday night.
The event is hosted by the Columbia Design League and is a competition that brings designers from around the Midlands who turn trash into sustainable fashion. Over 50 models strutted fashions created by designers who used materials like bottle caps, newspapers, pop cans, industrial scraps and plastic bags. Co-hosts Cyrus Frakes and Chelsea Washington kicked the show off at 8pm.
The designers were judge in five main categories: craftsmanship, green ability, wear ability, best model and the best overall design. The winner received the Bruce Bahr award.
This year proved to be more exciting for attendees with a new stage design with a longer runway, a DJ on the VIP floor and an after party that was held on the lower level of the Township Auditorium following the show.
A portion of the proceeds went to fund design education at the Columbia Museum of Art.
