A phone call from a concerned citizen to authorities interrupts a burglary in progress, deputies say.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department arrested 21-year-old Antwain Rembert charged with two counts of burglary and larceny, 19-year-old Tony Henry charged with two counts of burglary and larceny, and 20-year-old Nickolas Richardson charged with two counts of burglary, larceny, driving under suspension, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.  

The report said around 11:00 a.m., deputies responded to a burglary at 15 Dunmore Court.

Deputies say Rembert, Henry, and Richardson made entry into the residence by forcing open a side door.

According to sheriff’s deputies, a concerned citizen witnessed Rembert, Henry, and Richardson running from the residence.

Deputies arriving in the area located the three men who fit the description given by the witness just a short distance away.  

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that one phone call from the citizen interrupted Rembert, Henry, and Richardson in the act of stealing the victims’ property.

Sheriff Lott added that Rembert, Henry, and Richardson fled the area as deputies approached leaving behind their getaway car, a 2002 Hyundai Accent. Sheriff Lott added that more and more citizens are getting involved to insure the capture of bad guys, and he commends those that choose to change things in their community to make it a better and safer place to live – truly living the motto Unity in the Community! 

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that this arrest subsequently led to information that Rembert, Henry, and Richardson burglarized another residence at 128 Parliament Drive. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that between 9:30 p.m. and 3:45 a.m.,three men broke into the home through the back door and stole a 55” Samsung television and a Xbox gaming system; total estimated value to include damage to the door $950.00, the report stated.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Rembert, Henry, and Richardson have been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
