The Richland County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man wanted for burglary and attempted safe cracking.

Deputies say between 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11 and just before 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 42-year-old Albert Shane Owens broke into Fatz Café located on Broad River Road.

According to sheriff’s deputies, Owens gained entry into the business by creating a hole in the rear wall. Owens attempted to break into the safe in the office, but was unsuccessful.

Deputies say Owens was captured on surveillance video and later identified by employees as a former coworker.

Owens was arrested on Monday and transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
