5 teams win 1st place awards at State Odyssey of the Mind competition

Burnside Elementary School’s Odyssey of the Mind team won first place at the state competition. Pictured left to right are coaches April Soles and Sonya Law-Tolbert, along with team members Alyssa McNeeley, Janice Dougherty, Jabez Taylor, Kristyn Bradshaw, Hanna Lararrte and Tyler Gatling. Richland One had a number of winners in the 2012 State Odyssey of the Mind competition held on March 17 in Charleston. First- and second-place winners qualify for the Odyssey of the Mind World Competition in Iowa on May 23 - 26. 

 

Odyssey of the Mind is an international education program which requires students to be creative, quick thinkers in solving problems ranging from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. Thousands of teams from around the world from kindergarten through college compete for local, state and world honors.
