Tailgate the Certified SC Grown Way When Gamecocks Battle Bulldogs

 

The Carolina Gamecocks will battle the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday, October 6, but fans can enjoy a different kind of battle before the game.  The South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) is hosting the Certified SC Grown Tailgate at Gamecock Village on Bluff Road in Columbia. The free tailgate starts at 4 p.m. Just look for the green and white tent.

Columbia runners are prepping to be hit with a tsunami of color on October 20, 2012 as they take on Color Me Rad 5K.  As white-clad participants wind through Colonial Life Arena, they’ll be bombarded with color throughout the course until their face, shirt and body cross the finish line looking like a silkscreened tie-dyed hippie.  Finishers, coated from head to toe in blue, green, pink, purple and yellow, will then toss individual bags of color in the air every fifteen minutes—not to summon rain from heaven—but to create a final explosion of color in c

City of Columbia To Install New Bike Corrals

 

The City of Columbia will hold a press conference on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 3 p.m. on the front steps of City Hall located at 1737 Main Street to announce the installation of four new bike corrals.

 

The bike corrals will be installed at various locations around the City and will provide opportunities for cyclists to have secure locations to park their bikes while enjoying the district’s businesses they’re located in.

 

Three of four corals listed below have been supported by the associations including a cost share of 50%.

In one week, the Palmetto Boxing Association in partnership with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and Columbia Police Department will present a boxing match between a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputy and Columbia Police Department officer as part of the Metro Madness 2 boxing competition that will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 29 at the Township Auditorium, 1703 Taylor Street, Columbia.

On Friday, September 14, 2012 the Richland County Sheriff's Department and the Lower Richland Community Leaders will host an event to help enhance the athletic talents and sportsmanship of the adolescents in Southeast Richland County.

There will be track and field activities for all ages.

Sheriff Leon Lott encourages all citizens to participate in this free event which is held at Lower Richland High School (2615 Lower Richland Boulevard, Hopkins).
