A new head baseball coach has been hired at Westwood High School. Jonathan Burroughs will take over the reins of the Redhawks’ baseball team. Burroughs has over nine years of experience coaching high school baseball.
City of Columbia Parks and Recreation is inviting the public out to help celebrate the grand reopening of Earlewood Park on Saturday, June 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A dedication ceremony and press conference will take place at 1 p.m.
The YMCA of Columbia has selected Vance J. Bettis, Senior Litigation Partner at Gignilliat Savitz & Bettis LLP, as the new President of its Metropolitan Board of Directors. Bettis was appointed to the position, which carries a two-year term, on May 23, 2013, during the YMCA of Columbia’s annual meeting. He succeeds Bruce T. Williams, Vice President of BB&T – Boyle Vaughan Insurance, who completed his term as President.
Sheriff Leon Lott invites the community to come enjoy the “Skills on Wheels” Basketball Game to support the Richland County Recreation Commission’s Youth Wheelchair Basketball League. This benefit basketball game will be played in wheelchairs by Richland County Sheriff’s Deputies and City of Columbia Fire Fighters.
