Frank and Anya Martin To Host Inaugural Coaches Versus Cancer Benefit

 

University of South Carolina head men's basketball coach Frank Martin and his wife Anya, are set to host their inaugural "Coaches vs. Cancer" benefit, the "B-Ball of the South," on Friday, May 3, 2013, at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia. Proceeds from the event will go to "Coaches vs. Cancer," a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Several celebrity coaches are slated to attend to support the cause.

Palmetto Half Marathon to Raise Funds for Jubilee Academy & Local Charity Partners

 

Sheriff Leon Lott is proud to partner with the fourth annual Palmetto Half Marathon, presented by Moore Sports Medicine, which will be held at the Village at Sandhill on April 12 & 13, 2013.   Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the 2013 event will feature a scenic Half Marathon starting and finishing at the Village at Sandhill, and also includes a Pasta Dinner by Carrabba’s, Youth Half Marathon, 5k and Kids Fun Run.

Benedict Lady Tigers Claim SIAC East Division Title

The Benedict College Lady Tigers are SIAC East Division champions after taking a 73-42 victory over Paine College on Saturday.

Benedict, 16-12 overall and 13-3 in the SIAC, earned the top seed in the East Division for the 2013 SIAC Tournament, and earned a bye until the quarterfinals and will play at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Benedict held Paine to just 16.4 percent shooting. The Lady Lions made just five of 55 shot attempts. Benedict also forced 31 Paine turnovers.

Props, signs and the kinds of odd items not normally found in a typical weekend yard sale will be offered to the public Saturday, Feb. 23 as the South Carolina State Museum presents its periodic “garage sale.”
