Deputies arrest suspect who made himself at home while victims hid

Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a suspect they say made himself feel like he was at home during a burglary.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that just after midnight on Wednesday, May 8, on Decker Boulevard an observant deputy on patrol located 26-year-old James Walker Brown III, and took him into custody without incident.

Deputies say Brown is accused of breaking into a home on Haymarket Road on Christmas Day.

Once inside the home, investigators say Brown rummaged through the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets eating food.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating a man wanted for burglary, petit larceny, and obtaining goods under false pretenses.

Deputies say they’re looking for 29-year-old Antonio Thomas.

The report said on Monday, January 14, Thomas kicked open the front door of an apartment located at 1800 Longcreek Drive between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

Once inside, deputies say Thomas stole the following items with an estimated value of $816.99:

CMRTA offers pilot bus route for Lexington Co. residents

Lexington County and its community partners are making it a lot easier for the residents of the community to get around by offering roundtrip service from downtown Columbia to Lexington's Red Bank crossing every Monday.

According to a news release, every Monday a CMRTA bus will travel to Lexington’s Red Bank Crossing, 1070 S. Lake Drive, which houses the Lexington County Health Department, Department of Social Services, and Lexington‐Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (LRADAC).
