Spider-Man or Spider-Menace? Two stores hit by masked robber

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- It's a story straight out of the fictional Daily Bugle from Marvel Comics: a man wearing a Spider-Man mask committing at least two robberies in Lexington and Richland counties.

Comical or not, law enforcement is taking the incidents very seriously.

According to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, the first incident occurred at Computer MD on the 4400 block of St. Andrews Road around 11:35 a.m. on June 11.

After a successful inaugural marathon this past March, the Columbia SC Marathon has already been busy working on plans for 2013.   The Columbia SC Marathon appreciates all the positive feedback from this year and has big plans for next March! Stay tuned for a very exciting announcement regarding the start/finish of the Columbia SC Marathon on March 9, 2013.  Plans are to formally announce the big news within the next two weeks!

Columbia City Council Meetings Held At New Location

The Columbia City Council meetings and the Council Work Sessions will be held in new locations effective June 26, 2012 through the end of the year. The Columbia City Council meetings will be held at the Eau Claire Print Building, 3907 Ensor Avenue.  The City Council Work Sessions will be held at Eau Claire Town Hall, 3905 Ensor Avenue. The new location for these meetings is due to renovations being completed at City Hall. Meetings will resume at City Hall in January 2013.

Columbia Metropolitan Airport to Remove Terminal Lobby Planters

Columbia Metropolitan Airport to Remove Terminal Lobby Planters

On Monday, June 18, 2012, after the TSA security checkpoint has closed, demolition will begin in the Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s Main Terminal Lobby to remove the two large circular planters located closest to the TSA Checkpoint.

Demolition of the planters will continue during evening hours throughout the week.  The area will then be retiled.  The entire project is expected to be completed within a two week time frame.

The removal of these planters will increase the space available to manage the line for the TSA Checkpoint.  This project is not expected to

The City of Columbia Community Development Department is recognizing National Homeownership Month by hosting the OMG of Homeownership on Saturday, June 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Eau Claire High School (4800 Monticello Road).

OMG of Homeownership...Owning, Maintaining and Gardening event features hands-on instructional sessions. The event’s signature sponsor, Wells Fargo, will provide a clearer picture of the refinance process and mortgage modifications.
