Accident involving Columbia Fire Dept. slows down morning commute | News
If you were headed downtown Thursday you probably noticed that the morning traffic on the Huger Street was backed up a little more than usual.
According to the Columbia Fire Department, the back-up was a result of an accident that happened around 8 a.m.
Officials say a Columbia Fire Department SUV traveling south on Huger Street with lights and sirens on, was hit at the intersection of Huger and Hampton Streets by a BMW that was travelling east on Hampton Street.
The driver of the SUV was not injured, but the driver of the BMW was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officials say the driver of the BMW is expected to be charged with failure to yield.
