Police release surveillance photos after robbery, may be connected to another | News
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- The Columbia Police Department released surveillance photos of a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a Walgreen's Saturday morning.
The robbery occurred at about 9 a.m. Saturday. Police say the man walked up to the pharmacy counter at the Walgreen's in the 7400 block of Broad River Road and demanded several controlled substances, including pain medications.
A witness told investigators the man lifted his sweatshirt to display what may have been a weapon tucked into his waistband. The pharmacist complied and nobody was injured.
Another witness said the man ran from the store and got into a dark blue, 4-door, mid-2000 model pickup truck, possibly with damage on the right side. As he was driving away, another witness reported the truck may have hit another vehicle.
Detectives are trying to determine if this is the same man who robbed the Rite Aid in the 1500 block of Broad River Road on Monday.
The suspect in that robbery was wearing a dark-colored "Appalachian State" sweatshirt, clear latex gloves and a surgical mask over his face. The suspect demanded prescription drugs from the pharmacist and displayed a handgun in his waistband.
If you recognize the man in these photos or know anything that can help detectives, call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
