Car overturned in downtown wreck
News

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- Traffic is now moving again at a busy intersection in downtown Columbia after a crash involving an overturned car Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred at about 3:20 Friday at the intersection of Gervais and Sumter Streets, in front of the South Carolina State House.

Based on their preliminary investigation, Columbia police say a Chevy traveling West on Gervais St. ran a red light at Sumter St. and crashed into a CMRTA bus that was crossing Gervais from Sumter.

As the car flipped, it rolled into another car.

Police say six people were taken to the hospital.  They expect to charge the driver of the Chevy with running a red light.
