Georgia Couple Wins $200,000 on Trip to Columbia

An Augusta, GA, couple likes to take turns scratching lottery tickets.  So when it was the wife’s turn to scratch a Green and Gold ticket from the South Carolina Education Lottery, she was surprised when her husband didn’t hand it back over.

“I think we got it!” he screamed.

When he said $200,000, she broke down.

“I cried and cried,” the wife said.

The two were seeing family in Columbia when they purchased the winning ticket from the Circle K Stores #5347 on Atlas Rd.

There next road trip will be in a new car.

As of this release, two top prizes remain in the $10 Green and Gold game.  Odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 624,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Circle K Stores #5347 in Columbia received a commission of $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.9 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
