Motor Supply Co. Bistro Partners with Sustainable Farms for Summer Harvest Week

Columbia, SC (May 21, 2012) – Executive Chef Tim Peters of Motor Supply Co. Bistro puts his money where his mouth is. A supporter of the Slow Food movement, which promotes “good, clean and fair” food systems, Peters ensures that a significant portion his weekly food purchasing budget goes to small, local, sustainable farms.

After a two-month absence, the Richland County Regulators and Carolina Wreckingballs return to the National Guard Armory on Saturday to take on Rogue Rollergirls and the River City Rejects.

Doors will open for the event at 3:30 p.m., and the men’s bout begins at 4 p.m. First whistle for the women’s bout blows at 6 p.m. Food, drinks and entertainment, including music by local DJ Dick Not Richard, will be provided for the duration of the event. Proceeds from this bout will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

The Midlands Job Fair is back and will be held on July 30, 2012, 11a-2p. A special VIP Pass granting early access to the job fair will be available for job seekers who complete a 3 hour workshop during July at one of their local Midlands Workforce Centers. This job fair will feature employers, Midlands Workforce Partners, service and healthcare providers, and (new!) educators!

LRADAC’s Lexington One Community Coalition (LOCC) is celebrating National Prevention Week,  May 20-26, with a social media campaign.  The purpose of National Prevention Week is to proactively engage the community in prevention efforts against Substance Abuse and encourages  mental, emotional, and behavioral wellbeing.

The West Metro Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center's 2012 CMC Steel Rhythm on the River Concert Series continues! The concert will take place this Saturday, May 26, and the featured act will be “The Cumberland Collective”. 

“The Cumberland Collective” is a community of independent singer/songwriters and musicians from across the U.S. Their music is a mix of Singer/Songwriter, Soul, R&B, Pop and a small bit of Country.

The  Historic Columbia Foundation is hosting two more Happy Hour History Tours of Main Street this year. The tours will be held on this Friday, May 18, and Friday, May 25 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
