Covenant Classical Christian School To Hold Medieval Feast | Events
Sixth graders from Covenant Classical Christian School hold a Medieval Feast on Friday, November 11, at 6:30 p.m in Peterson Hall.
The feast will be a celebration of the students’ lessons on the middle ages. Approximately 60+ attendees of the event will include students from Jan Ward’s sixth grade class, along with their parents, siblings and grandparents. “Nine years ago, during our Middle Ages study, a colleague gave me a book about medieval celebrations,” said Ward. “We based our first feast on that book, and decided to continue the tradition each year.” The meal includes four courses, prepared by parents, and traditional medieval entertainment between each course. Students will tell lays, or medieval stories, play and sing music, and act as jesters, telling jokes and doing tricks, all for the guests at their tables. “Traditionally, the stage at a medieval feast is the center of the table, so all of the entertaining is done for each small audience,” said Ward. “It’s a little chaotic, but relaxing at the same time.” In true medieval form, no electricity will be used during the dinner. The room will be lit by candles, and guests will eat and drink using wooden bread bowls, spoons, knives and mugs. Students will dress in medieval-style clothing. Additionally, banners created by the students will hang on the walls.
