Boil water advisory issued for Windsor Village, Waterford at Columbia and Parliament Lake

The City of Columbia Water Works advises the water customers Windsor Lake Boulevard from Alpine Road to Windsor Lake Way, including the Windsor Village, Waterford at Columbia, and Parliament Lake Subdivisions, located in Richland County, to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking.  Also, any residents near the affected area who have lost water and/or water pressure are also advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

Sewer Main Repair scheduled for 500, 600 and 800 Blocks of Gervais St.

Three sewer main repairs are scheduled along Gervais St. starting Tuesday, April 23, 2013 through Thursday, April 25, 2013.

 

On Tuesday, April 23, sewer main repairs are scheduled for the 500 block of Gervais St along the median for both sides of the street. Wastewater Maintenance will set up traffic controls for both inbound and outbound left lanes.

2013 SC Waste Pesticide Recovery Collection Dates & Locations Set

The dates and locations are set for the 2013 SC Waste Pesticide Recovery Program.  Based on surveys, the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) has established seven locations across the state making it easy for South Carolina farmers, foresters, nurserymen, golf course operators, and custom applicators to safely dispose of old, outdated, unusable, or unwanted pesticides. The goal of the program is to increase proper management and disposal of unwanted pesticides

Extended Hours, Workshops for City Water and Sewer Customers

City of Columbia Water and Sewer Customers will see a new flyer this month about the City's proposed change to water and sewer rates and a series of upcoming events designed to help customers better understand these changes. To help customers understand these rate changes, the City's Customer Care Center at 1136 Washington St. will also host a series of extended hours and Saturday workshops.

Seven Schools Receive Funding for Environmental Projects

The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (District) has awarded Earth Day Mini-Grants to seven Richland County Schools to support conservation and environmental education projects.

Funded projects include materials and supplies for outdoor classrooms and school gardens, a composting education program, a school-wide Green Festival, and schoolyard erosion control. A complete list of Mini-Grant recipients is below.
