Report: Women robbed at gunpoint by suspect wearing fencing mask

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a suspect they say robbed two women at gunpoint.

The report said on Sunday, Jan. 13, around 4:50 a.m., officers responded to the Rain Tree Apartments located on Fernandina Road in reference to an armed robbery.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the two female victims who stated they were sitting inside the car talking when the suspect approached the passenger side door, which was already open, with a handgun and demanded their purses, the report stated.

Deputies say one of the victims asked the suspect if they could keep their driver’s license. The suspect then threw the purses back at the women and ordered them to give him their money.

The suspect took the victims’ money and walked off very calmly in between the “G” and “H” building, the report stated.

Deputies say the women then drove off and contacted law enforcement.

The report said the suspect is described as a 20-24 year old black male, 5’05-5’06, 150-160lbs. wearing all black and what appeared to be a fencing mask.
