Report: Suspect steals $4 in cash, credit card from local worship leader | Crime
The Columbia Police is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying and locating a male suspect accused of stealing a credit card from a local worship leader.
The victim said around 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 7, he was leaving a church located on Two Notch Road when the suspect approached him in the parking lot and asked if he had money for food.
Deputies say after the victim told the suspect no, he offered to meet him at a local fast food restaurant to purchase a meal.
That is when the suspect allegedly reached in the victim's shirt pocket and stole $4 in cash and his credit card, the report stated.
According to sheriff’s deputies, the suspect didn't present a firearm, but he told the victim that he had a gun.
The victim was not physically harmed during the incident.
Investigators say the suspect racked up more than $5,000 worth of charges on the victim's credit card.
The card was also used at several, local establishments including the CVS store located on Assembly Street, the report stated. The suspect was captured on surveillance video at that store.
