Man arrested for smashing Five Points store window with his body

Police arrested a teenager accused of intentionally breaking a window with his body at a Five Points business very early on the morning of September 16.

19-year-old Dean Rogers turned himself in to Columbia Police on September 22 after a citizen recognized him from surveillance video of the incident and notified the Columbia Police Department.

According to investigators, Rogers is seen on surveillance video with two individuals walking along Saluda Avenue on just after 3:30 a.m.

Rogers is accused of using his upper body to smash the front glass at Revente clothing store at 737 Saluda Avenue, then walking away from the scene.

“This type of behavior will not be tolerated in the City of Columbia," said Police Chief Randy Scott.

Rogers is charged with Malicious Damage to Property.
