Palladium Society's Renovation Rodeo Series Continues May 21

 

The Palladium Society, the young professionals society of Historic Columbia Foundation, continues its Renovation Rodeo tour series on May 21, featuring a home in Shandon.

 

This private tour series is a roundup of old homes in the Columbia area that have been refurbished and renovated while staying true to the roots and history of the house. Attendees get to see the renovation first hand while speaking with the homeowner and contractor who worked on the project.

On May 9th four non-profit organizations in South Carolina that work with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations joined together to participate in the 1st national Give OUT Day for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender  Queer community (LGBTQ).

South Carolina’s Largest Baby Shower To Be Held May 11th

 

Get ready for South Carolina’s Largest Baby Shower! On Saturday, May 11th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. drop off baby supplies to select Walmart locations in Columbia, Sumter and Florence. The supplies will then be donated directly to the Pregnancy Resource Center in your area to help expecting mothers in need.

In celebration of Older American Month, City of Columbia Parks and Recreation is hosting its annual Senior Expo and Fun Day on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hyatt Park, 927 Jackson Avenue.   

 

The goal of the event is to help those in attendance better navigate life after age fifty. Vendors from a wide variety of health care agencies and businesses will be in attendance to share information on their goods and services.  The event will also include health screenings and exercise classes.

Letter Carriers' Annual Food Drive Set for May 11

 

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 21st annual food drive to combat hunger on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes.

 

It is the nation's largest single-day food drive, and is held annually on the second Saturday in May in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.
