Parks and Recreation recruiting participants for Black History Month parade | Arts & Culture

City of Columbia Parks and Recreation is currently recruiting participants for its upcoming Black History Month celebrations.
Parks and Recreation has partnered with the Friends United as a Neighborhood Developmental Society for the South Carolina Annual Statewide Ethnic History Parade & Festival. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, February 2, in the historic Waverly and Five Points communities. Parade participants and vendors are being sought. The deadline to register is Monday, January 21. Forms are available via email at fundsinc1@fundsinc.org or online at www.fundsinc1.org.
The department is also looking for talented artists and performers to be a part of its annual Black History Month program on Saturday, February 9, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Dutch Square Mall. This celebration of culture and heritage will include singing, dancing, storytelling, musicians and more. The deadline to signup is Friday, February 1.
