“Main Street Ice” Set to Open Thanksgiving Day 2012 | Arts & Culture
Boyd Plaza in downtown Columbia will have a cooler look and feel when Thanksgiving Day 2012 arrives. Main Street Ice skating rink is scheduled to open to the public on Thursday, November 22 at the corner of Hampton and Main Streets.
Main Street Ice will be open from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and resume the regularly scheduled hours on Friday, November 23. Admission is free on Thanksgiving Day.
City of Columbia and Magic Ice U.S.A., Inc. have partnered to bring an outdoor ice skating rink to Boyd Plaza, located in front of the Columbia Museum of Art. The rink will be open seven days a week. Hours of operation will be Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to10 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. The rink will be closed on Christmas Day.
Skating fees will be $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 12 and under. Special senior and military discounts will be offered. Reservations will be taken for large groups planning to visit the rink. Fees include skate rentals.
Main Street Ice will remain open until January 6, 2013.
