RCSD to host "Paddle for a Cure" |
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Sheriff Leon Lott announces that the 3rd Annual Richland County Sheriff's Department "Paddle for a Cure" will now be held on Sunday, June 8, 2013 beginning at 2:00 PM. The 7.2 mile scenic paddle down the Wateree River kicks off at 1600 Tail Race Rd, Ridgeway, SC (the Wateree Dam). The change was necessary due to the high waters, cool temperatures, and the 50% chance of rain for this weekend. We want all who attend (young and old) to have an enjoyable and safe time on the water.
Sheriff Leon Lott states that he is incredibly proud of how members of the Department dedicate themselves to making positive changes in our communities. The "Paddle for a Cure" event raises money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The Sheriff adds that everyone at RCSD has been affected by cancer in some way and this is a great way to honor those we've lost and show support for those still fighting against cancer.
The cost to participate is a $30.00 donation to the American Cancer Society. Your $30.00 donation will include a RCSD "Paddle for a Cure" t-shirt, and sandwiches during the Paddle. Please make sure you bring your own kayak or canoe. A limited number of kayaks will be available to borrow. For more information contact Bev Crane email@example.com.
A life jacket, whistle, and waiver are required to participate! Waivers will be provided to all participants the day of the event.
