About Us
Premier Endodontics is a dental practice that specializes in performing root canals, diagnosing and treating oral and facial pain, and saving natural teeth. There are two Endodontists on staff in this practice. Endodontist complete four years of dental school and two or more addtional years of advanced training in endodontics. The Endodontists treat problems related to damaged tissue inside the tooth. Premier Endodontics is a family oriented practice that strives to treat every patient as if they are family.

Dr. Fred L. Sykes recieved his Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia State College in 1969, his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Meharry Medical College (Nashville, TN) in 1978, and recieved his endodontic training at Ft. Gordon Georgia/ Medical College of Georgia in 1985. Dr. Fred recieved his endodontic board certification in 1988. After retiring from 26 years in the United States Army, Dr. Sykes opened his private practice office in Northeast Columbia. He is also a member of the South Carolina Association of Endodontists (SCAE), Greater Columbia Dental Association (GCDA), Palmetto Medical Dental and Pharmaceutical Association, and Rotory International
Dr. Chandra Sykes Smith recieved her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina in 2002, her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Meharry Medical College (Nashville, TN) in 2006, and recieved her endodontic training and Masters of Science in Dentistry (MsD) degree at Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry (Cleveland, OH) in 2010. Dr. Chandra is board eligible, and is currently completing the board certification process. Dr. Chandra joined the practice with her father in 2011. Dr. Chandra is currently a member of the American Association of Endodontist (AAE), and the American Association Women Dentists (AAWD). She is also a member of the South Carolina Association of Endodontists (SCAE), Greater Columbia Dental Association (GCDA), and Dental Divas.
