Fourteen years ago, members of Sigma Nu Fraternity at the University of South Carolina would have never envisioned Brother Brian Shah confined to a wheel chair, unable to walk or speak. Shah, the loud, fun-loving member, was always the life of every party and the constant joker.
Shah, 36, the former soccer player, suffers from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He was diagnosed with ALS more than four years ago and given 2-4 years to live. The rare disease has rapidly attacked his muscular system, leaving him unable to speak or walk.
